Request for proposal for low voltage network analytics platform
Orion has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a low voltage (LV) network analytics platform.
“As is the case with other electricity distribution networks, Orion is facing significant increases in the demand for electricity from industrial conversion to electricity, electrification of transportation, and intensified infill housing,” says Orion Network Transformation Programme Director Garry Heyes.
“To enable our customers to connect and use their distributed energy resources and low carbon technology connections at speed and scale we need to continue our mahi to be a future fit intelligent distribution network operator.”
Orion has been working recently on a pilot programme with low voltage analytics solution providers and we now plan to seek a comprehensive solution covering a broad range of functionality, for our entire LV network.
“We will be looking for an LV network analytics platform that can accept data from smart meters, LV telemetry devices, and network topology and configuration information,” says Garry.
Using this data, Orion is looking for a system that can provide improved visibility of assets and activity on our network, particularly distributed energy resources (DER) and low carbon technologies (LCT), and how they interact with the LV network, provide power system insights through advanced analytics and enhanced capability, identify system constraints, network performance improvements and efficiency through optimal investment.
The full platform requirements are outlined in the open and competitive RFP. If you're interested, check here for more details
The RFP closes on Monday 23 September.
